It is interesting to note that in the public opinion poll taken in the US http://natmonitor.com/2013/01/10/congress-more-unpopular-than-donald-trump-americans-say-yes/, the 112/113th congress of the United States, while extremely unpopular is nonetheless more popular than Communism. This is interesting in the fact the US has a large percentage of its population (73%) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion_in_the_United_States that claim to adhere to some sect of the Christian faiths. What makes this interesting is pure communism (from Latin communis – common, universal, not the Marxist derived socialistic political systems operating under the Communist label, such as Vietnam and China) is a basic teaching of the Christian bible. Pure Communism is reflected in the life of Jesus, for instance, what did Jesus own? How did Jesus live? Why did Jesus throw the money changers out from the temple? Christianity also shares with the rest of the world the golden rule, Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, which is an extension of pure Communism. The examples of how the community of the father is based on love and openness to all (pure communism) are endless in the core teachings of Christianity. The sad reflection is how the influence of human greed acts upon the teachings as presented to the people. While the congressional poll undoubtedly reflects the sentiment against the socialistic forms of government, which actually have striking similarities to the US military form of governess, it also shows the effectiveness of the propaganda machine in the minimalization of critical and independent thought. While there is considerable debate concerning the use of the word “Communism” with” Christianity”, the perceptions and mindset of the people make for a very interesting comparison. Why is there such an abysmally low perception of a concept that has such strong ties to the expressed preference of the overwhelming majority?
